Heather Caspi is the managing editor for public safety news on partner sites Firehouse.com, EMSResponder.com and Officer.com. She has been with Cygnus Business Media since 2000, first serving as a Firehouse.com news reporter. She led the launch of EMSResponder.com in 2005 and served as the site editor until 2009. She graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in Journalism and English Language and Literature, and earned her EMT-B through Merritt College and the Oakland Fire Department in Oakland, California.

Fire Administrator Cochran Sworn in at FRI

DALLAS, Texas -- New U.S. Fire Administrator Kelvin Cochran was sworn in this morning at the opening of Fire-Rescue International.

The event was a ceremonial swearing in, appropriately located as Cochran is a former 1st Vice President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the host of the conference. He has officially been sworn in since Aug. 18.
